Need a starting point

Six ideas
to steal.

You don't need a big production. The best entries usually come from whatever's already happening at home.

→Decorating your balcony or home for Merdeka

→Showing the Merdeka decorations around your condo
→Yoga, dancing, or singing patriotic songs

Judging criteria

How entries
are scored.

The weighting is split deliberately across both halves of the theme. A generic Merdeka video that could have been filmed anywhere won't score well. Both pillars have to show up.

These criteria apply to the panel-judged prizes. People's Choice is decided separately by public engagement.

Merdeka spirit & theme interpretation 25% A personal, original take on "Merdeka Your Way": freedom, pride, or the muhibbah spirit in your own voice rather than clichés.
Condo living lifestyle connection 25% Clearly set in and celebrating condo life: common areas, neighbours, shared spaces, community.
Creativity & originality 20% Fresh concept, clever transitions, storytelling, or humour. Ideas that stand out from the feed.
Entertainment & shareability 15% Is it fun and rewatchable, the kind of video someone sends to a friend?
Production quality 15% Clear footage, clean editing, good framing and audio. Judged against phone-shot content, not studio standards.

Scoring

Three judges score every criterion out of 10. Each score is multiplied by its weight for a weighted total out of 10, then averaged across the panel.

Tie-breaker

If two entries tie, the one with the higher combined score on Merdeka Spirit and Condo Living wins. The theme comes first.

The eligibility

There's RM5,000 on the line, so entries are checked for compliance before they reach the judges. Non-compliant entries are set aside and not scored.

To qualify, your entry must have

  • Invited @mantap.community as a collaborator, or tagged us where collaboration isn't available
  • Been submitted through the official entry form, not just posted
  • Met the format rules: original video, 15–60 seconds, filmed in a residential or condo setting

Rules & regulations

Read this

Eligibility

Open to all Malaysians living in a condominium. No age limit.

Format

Vertical video (9:16), 15–60 seconds, original content, filmed in a residential or condo setting.

Content

Must show Merdeka spirit and/or condo living lifestyle. Political, religious, sensitive or unsafe content will be disqualified.

Safety

No high-risk stunts. Nothing dangled outside windows or over balconies. Film safely.

Submission window

Entries must be posted and submitted between 3 August and 25 August 2026, 11:59 PM.

Consent

You confirm you have consent from any neighbours or other identifiable people appearing in your video.

Terms & conditions

This contest is organised by MANTAP, in partnership with the Management Committee or Corporation of participating condominiums.

Submissions must be original content and use copyright-free background music or official platform audio tracks.

The Organiser reserves the right to use all submitted videos for community and brand promotional purposes.

Entries containing political, religious, sensitive or unsafe content will be disqualified immediately.

The decision of the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entertained.

Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for cash or other items.

The Organiser is not liable for any injury, loss or damage incurred during video filming.

Personal data collected will be used solely for contest administration under PDPA guidelines.
